Godwit Atlas / Trust & understanding
How we research
Understand the source, the market and the limits of a claim before relying on it.
From provider to evidence
- ProviderThe organization offering a product.
- ProductThe specific card or payment service.
- Market variantThe version offered in a particular country or region.
- EvidenceThe source supporting an individual finding.
A provider’s presence in one country does not establish availability elsewhere. Products with similar names may have different issuers, terms or capabilities across markets.
Four distinct evidence labels
- Official product information
- Published terms, fee schedules, eligibility rules and support documentation establish what the provider officially states. They do not prove every real-world outcome.
- Provider claims
- Marketing or direct provider statements that need supporting detail. A claim is not independent verification.
- Godwit Atlas verification
- A finding supported by a documented check, with its scope, method and date. Verification is limited to what was actually checked.
- User reports
- Reported experiences provide context. They may be incomplete, outdated or specific to one user and cannot establish universal compatibility.
Sources and freshness
We prioritize current official terms and product documentation for fees, eligibility and restrictions. Provider statements and user reports provide additional context and retain their own evidence labels.
Findings should identify their source and review date. Conflicting or stale evidence requires further review; older information should not silently become a current claim.
Eligibility and compatibility need context
Location, residency, business type and a provider’s assessment can affect eligibility. Published requirements do not guarantee an individual application will be approved.
Merchant-specific compatibility needs merchant-specific evidence. A payment working once does not establish support for every subscription, advertising platform or future transaction.
Before information is published
Our publication gate requires a clearly identified product and market, sources for material claims, visible limitations and an appropriate evidence label. Unsupported claims should be withheld or identified as unknown.
Research pending means research pending. Missing information is not evidence that a feature is available or a restriction does not exist.
Commercial independence
Suitability and evidence come before commission. A commercial relationship must not change factual information, evidence labels or eligibility criteria.
